💡 What We Published This Week 💡
The Essential Guide To Getting Your Branding Right
We don’t spend enough time positioning our brands in healthcare. You see the same ‘missions’ and the same styles across the sector. Taking time to understand where this can be a key to growth will set you up to benefit from brand differentiation.
From Avoiding AI To Embracing It
I’m surprised by how many conversations I have where industry professionals are still reluctant to utilise AI more effectively across their workflows. If you want gain confidence in utilising AI this article is for you.
🧠 Practical AI 🧠
Patient Communication Strategy
Prompt - Create a communication strategy that uses AI to personalise patient interactions, including reminders, post-care instructions, and health education. How can the system use patient data to optimise the timing and content of communications?
Customisable AI Dashboard for Health KPIs
Prompt - Design an AI-powered dashboard that allows healthcare managers to track key performance indicators (KPIs) like patient satisfaction, staff performance, and financial health. How can AI insights suggest data-driven actions for improvement?
Patient Retention Strategy
Prompt - Develop a model that analyses patient feedback, care outcomes, and appointment data to identify reasons for patient drop-off. What actionable insights can be generated to improve patient retention rates?
Reducing Administrative Burden in Chronic Disease Management Programs
Prompt - Build an AI-driven system that automates administrative tasks in chronic disease management programs, such as diabetes or hypertension care. How can AI help collect patient data, flag non-adherence to treatment plans, and schedule routine check-ins with minimal staff involvement?

😃 Personal Growth 😃
On Self Awareness
Self-awareness is the foundation for personal and professional growth. It’s the ability to recognize your emotions, thoughts, behaviours, and how they impact others around you. In a professional context, self-awareness can help you make better decisions, improve your relationships, and navigate workplace dynamics with confidence. Here are some tips to build your self-awareness
Journaling for Reflection: Start by setting aside a few minutes each day or week to reflect on your experiences, both positive and negative. What went well? What didn’t? How did you feel in different situations? This practice helps you track patterns over time, revealing insights into your strengths, blind spots, and emotional triggers. It’s especially useful for understanding how you react to stress, feedback, or challenges at work.
Seek Feedback: Often, we have blind spots when it comes to our behaviours and habits. Regularly seeking feedback from colleagues, supervisors, or mentors is a powerful way to gain an external perspective on how you’re perceived. When receiving feedback, practice active listening and ask clarifying questions to fully understand the input. It’s important to approach this with an open mind, even if the feedback is difficult to hear.
Create an Action Plan: Once you’ve identified areas where you want to grow, set specific, measurable goals. For example, if you notice that you tend to shy away from giving constructive feedback, make it a goal to practice giving feedback in small doses until you feel more comfortable. Self-awareness isn’t just about understanding yourself, but also about making deliberate changes based on that understanding.
🏥 Company Spotlight 🏥 → Aktiia
Who Are They?
Aktiia is a Swiss company that has developed an innovative wearable blood pressure monitoring device.
Why Are They In The Spotlight?
In June, Aktiia received CE mark approval for its groundbreaking CALFREE technology. This new technology allows for blood pressure measurements using optical sensors commonly found in smartwatches and smartphone cameras, without the need for calibration. This is a significant advancement because:
It eliminates the need for monthly calibration with a traditional blood pressure cuff
It opens up possibilities for integrating Aktiia's technology into third-party consumer devices like smartwatches and smartphones
It potentially enables large-scale hypertension diagnosis and management campaigns
These developments represent significant advancements in blood pressure monitoring technology, potentially making it more accessible and convenient for millions of people worldwide. Aktiia's innovations could transform hypertension management by enabling earlier screening and intervention, which could lead to substantial cost savings in healthcare systems and improvements in people's lives.
What Are They Getting Right?
Wearables are going clinical. Wearables took off in preventative health and wellness industries and are now beginning to find greater practicality in the medical domain. Healthcare has always had medical devices but they have scarcely been used for preventative health and monitoring.
Aktiia’s new AI is trained on 11 billion data points of blood pressure measurements. It is another demonstration of smaller but specialist AI utilisation harnessing data to improve accuracy and reduce costs.
What Can You Learn From Them?
Simplifying comprehensive care. Aktiia intelligently utilises existing hardware to produce an effective diagnosis and monitoring. They are able to assess blood pressure through the camera on most smartphones in just 90 seconds. This simplifies the delivery of care and makes it accessible to anyone that needs it
🖼️ Infographic Of The Week 🖼️
We know LLMs need time to improve before they are fully integrated into healthcare.
This diagram is an interesting consolidation of the areas of concern for implementation.
I honestly think that the quality of data poses the biggest risk long term. While AI will get smarter they are only as effective as its training data. Data in healthcare is notoriously complicated and full of inaccuracies. Blindly training LLMs on more data will compound the problem.
Where do you think the biggest risk or challenge is?
❔ Question Of The Week ❔
Which process in your organisation, if radically reimagined, could unlock exponential growth or efficiency? How do you balance the risk of overhauling a system with the potential upside of breakthrough results?
What’s My Answer You (Didn’t) Ask?
We often think of progress as incremental. That we have built our existing systems and processes through careful iteration so they are the best they can possibly be. The reality is not every iteration is completely positive and some small iterations carry negativities that compound. We can be left with a process or solution that we think is the best it can be but in reality is far away from optimal and an overhaul is the best course of action.
While it will take time and resources to achieve an overhaul you have to make a quick decision on whether you’re losing out long-term because you maintain the existing situation
