😃 Personal Growth 😃
On Creativity
Healthcare is often seen as a rigid, protocol-driven field where adherence to guidelines and evidence-based practices is paramount. However, creativity plays a critical role in advancing healthcare by driving innovation, improving patient outcomes, and enhancing operational efficiency. It gives you the space to add essential diversity and interest to your job without diminishing your responsibilities. Problem-solving, adaptation and process-enhancement are all downstream of ensuring creativity exists in your work. Here are a few ideas of how you can implement creative practices today
Foster a culture of no stupid ideas. If you’re afraid to come up with thoughtful suggestions then they are suppressed to a zero innovation environment.
Cross-disciplinary collaboration is one of the strongest forms of creative innovation. It helps you explore systems used elsewhere in the industry which are proven and safe but also transferrable.
Soft-test new ideas in a controlled environment to quickly understand where the failure points and opportunities of focus exist.
🏥 Company Spotlight 🏥 → Neko Health
Who Are Neko Health?
Neko Health is a Swedish health-tech company co-founded by Hjalmar Nilsonne and Daniel Ek in 2018. The company focuses on preventive healthcare through the use of advanced scanning technology and artificial intelligence (AI) to perform non-invasive health assessments.
Why Are They In The Spotlight?
Their spotlight comes from the impressive team put together by Spotify Founder Daniel Ek. Data-driven preventative care is the next significant step in the industry. Neko understands this and has crafted its premium yet (relatively) affordable service around understanding as much about your health as possible. This is a growing market as consumers look to be proactive instead of reactive to their health
What Are They Getting Right?
We’ve seen digital health solutions come in with a bang and fail to deliver anything really tangible. Neko Health is having its spotlight moment but remains grounded in evidence-based research and proven solutions. They’re not claiming to be anything they’re not and are serving customers with impressive feedback. Their utilisation of AI within their diagnosis and treatment systems is impressive but again not over-selling anything. These are the types of foundations that will likely see them to be a clear framework for alternative healthcare that puts prevention at the forefront.
What Can You Learn From Them?
When you put together an impressive team of individuals you maximise the chances of building a generational company. Neko Health has a clear mix of health and technology skillsets with leadership positions held by those that have a proven track record of business success. I see this blend of industry understanding, global business scale and technological know-how being a powerful framework for the biggest health companies of the next decade. Pick your leadership team accordingly.
🖼️ Infographic Of The Week 🖼️
a16z are as excited about AI’s application in healthcare as anyone else. They believe that AI could be a catalyst for significant technological change that has notoriously been slow across the industry.
Can the entrenched systems across the healthcare industry be transformed with effective AI tools or are a16z getting over-excited?
As always the nuanced answer is never as exciting. Some AI use cases will see a spectacular integration in healthcare while others face a range of safety, regulatory and development challenges.
I do believe that the more people that are working on AI in healthcare the better. The competition will naturally drive innovation and incumbents will have to move quickly to avoid losing market share.
AI doesn’t just offer greater efficiencies within existing systems and operations, it redesigns them entirely. Offering new value structures that give people both financial and effort reprieve which has long been a lock-in for incumbents.
How do you see the industry shifting as a result of rapid AI integration?
❔ Question Of The Week ❔
If you were to double your revenue in the next 24 months, what core business capability would you need to master, and how are you preparing for that growth now?
What’s My Answer You (Didn’t) Ask?
Building systems around audience growth. This remains one of the most understated facilitators of growth in business. There is a clear playbook for audience growth that everyone can follow and be successful. It really boils down to consistency and engagement which are both time-consuming. This is why many fail to utilise the playbook effectively. It’s why I am focusing in on building the systems required to make consistency and engagement easier.
